Getting Ready for Work While Running Late

If you’re like me and constantly on the go, you may feel like you’re always trying to get ready while running late. Running late is my cardio and I take pride in the fact that I can get ready in under 20 minutes from start to finish if I have to. For this post, I’ll share with you my 10 minute makeup routine as well as some tips to dressing the part, even when you may not feel the part.

I like to wear natural makeup, so my daily makeup routine is fairly simple. I always apply a face sunscreen as a primer underneath my makeup. For foundation I use the Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 40 in the color light/medium. I apply this with a damp Beauty Blender. Using that same Beauty Blender I use the TARTE Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer in the color medium. I put this under my eyes, on my brow bone, and down the center of my nose. For bronzer, I absolutely love the Wet N Wild Megaglo Contouring Palette that you may have heard me talk about in this post about my favorite drugstore products. If I’m really in a hurry and don’t have time to pencil in my eyebrows, I always at least add a tinted brow gel. I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel in Brunette but the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara is a great dupe. After brows, I throw on a coat of L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara, in Carbon Black and I’m good to go. The entire process takes me about 10 minutes, which is pretty good if I do say so myself! For my hair, I always feel like a low ponytail with statement earrings is a quick and easy fix.

Getting dressed for work in the morning can be a pretty simple task if you wear a uniform, but since I don’t, it takes me a little longer to put an outfit together. When I’m in a hurry, my go-to outfit is a dress I can slip on and a nude pair of pumps. Dresses are great because they are one article of clothing that I don’t have to worry about matching with and I can throw on a belt and my nude pumps in a hurry and still look put-together.

I know I sound like such a grandma (no offense to my grandma who reads my blog) but these Comfort Plus Pointy Toe Pumps from Payless (pictured below) are so comfortable and look great on. I do a lot of walking in my heels so its imperative that they’re comfortable.

If you don’t walk so much and want to be trendier, I love these Steve Madden Nude Pumps or these Gianvito Rossi Pumps. Throw my bag around my shoulder and I’m out the door!

If the weather is too cool for a dress, my go-to outfit is usually a comfortable pair of pants and a ruffled blouse (same heels!). Ruffles always dress up an outfit and are still trending into Fall. Right now, I’m loving these Checkered Chino Trousers from Zara and think they would look great with this Ruffled Blouse from H&M (on sale!). I also feel like a great way to look put-together is throwing on a simple black blazer like this one.

How quick can you get ready? Do you time yourself? Do you listen to music? I would love to hear more tips you guys have up your sleeve! Feel free to leave your ideas in the comments below!

  1. Shoot, you’re so lovely, you could get out of bed, put on clothes and be ready for anything in 5 minutes. And, being your grandmommy does not influence my comments what so ever. Nope, not ever.
