As you may know by now, I am terrified of wrinkles but absolutely love being tan and out in the sun. The two ultimately go hand-in-hand unless you’re careful, so I wanted to share with you how I obtain my Summer glow while keeping the UV rays to a minimum!
SPF
Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! I’m sure ya’ll are tired of me talking about sunscreen. But honestly, you’ll thank me later. Think of SPF as your first line of defense when achieving your gorgeous glow. My go-to is always a spray because it is so much easier to apply and covers more ground than when I rub it in. The one I’ve been using lately is the Neutrogena Beach Defense Body Spray Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 70, but I also enjoy the Alba Botanica Hawaiian, Coconut Spray Sunscreen SPF 50.
Face SPF
By now you guys should know how important SPF is to me and I am constantly raving about La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 60 Body and Face Sunscreen Melt-In Milk Lotion. Protecting your face is crucial to preventing sun damage and the first step to achieving your glow. Just because you have sunscreen on, doesn’t mean you won’t get any color, but you’ll know that you’re protecting your skin from harmful UV rays.
Tanning Foam
Lately I’ve been using the Bondi Sands Ultra Dark Tanning Foam and am loving it! It gives you that perfect all over tan that we all crave without looking orange. I used to sit in tanning beds as I was younger and to this day, I still can’t believe I did that. They’re so terrible for your skin, so I found tanning foam to be a healthier alternative. The only thing I must say, is that if you have really fair skin, try the regular Bondi Sands Foam instead of the Ultra Dark. I’ve also used St Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mousse in the color Dark if you’re looking to not spend as much money.
Shimmer Oil
You may have heard me talk about this gorgeous shimmer oil here, but Kopari products are some of my faves and I absolutely love the way they look and smell. This Kopari Coconut Body Glow is a must and gives you that sun goddess look while moisturizing your skin at the same time. Honestly, how could you go wrong? I like to put this on after rinsing my spray tan off and the golden glow it gives my skin is flawless.
Gradual Tanning Lotion
I am obsessed with the Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer in the color dark. I found it recently and have seen amazing results. It’s so easy to use because you put it on your skin while you’re still wet in the shower (after the water is off), and then you pat dry with a towel and you’re ready to go. No waiting for it to dry so that you can rinse it off. It also helps the tanning foam last longer. It is also great in Winter because it gives you a healthy glow without looking unnatural.
