Hi all! With my New York trip just a week away, I thought I would write a post on my in-flight necessities. It’s been a while since I’ve really posted anything, so I apologize for that, but I felt like I needed some ‘me time’ to recover after the holiday madness. But now I am BACK, refocused and feeling inspired. Traveling, to me, is always inspirational and I’m excited to share my NYC experience with you when I return.
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you may have seen my Carry-On Essentials post from last August, so this may be a bit familiar. However, I feel like I am always adding and changing the things I bring along, especially when I’m traveling during different parts of the year – so here we go.
When I’m traveling I always like to be as comfortable as possible, so I usually opt for a pair of black yoga pants with a comfy long sleeve shirt. I get really cold on flights, so I wear a leather jacket or a sweatshirt that I can take off if I get too warm. I pair it with tennis shoes that are easy to slip on & off, because I hate holding up the line during security or when I take them off on the plane and have to put them back on once we land. But for courtesy of others, be sure to wear socks or pack a pair of socks – no one likes seeing bare toes.
I am someone that is always cold, especially on planes, so I always bring a blanket with me. Some planes offer blankets, but the sanitation situation is a little iffy. I bring a small 3′ – 5′ blanket that easily packs into my carry on bag along with a tempurpedic neck pillow. I am a terrible flyer, so it always helps when I can sleep through my flight.
The Carry On
I put all my essentials inside a small rolling bag from Bagio. You can find this bag here. I put my purse, camera, iPad, cords etc. in here so I don’t have to carry multiple bags. I am only 5’3″ so I like that it is really compact and isn’t too large or heavy to me to lift on my own.
- Silk eye mask
- Water – I bring a Swell water bottle with me everywhere so that I’m able to refill it in the airport and bring it on my flight.
- protein bars – Lara Bars are my favorite. They usually have 3 ingredients & are vegan.
- hand sanitizer
- 5HTP– This helps me fall asleep and adjust to local time zones faster.
- Documents – ID, passport, packing list, itinerary, boarding passes.
- Toiletries – tooth brush/paste, rose water, makeup wipes, chapstick, perfume
That’s about it for me. I don’t like to pack too many things in my carry on to keep the weight low, but make sure that I have everything I need. What are your in-flight necessities? Please share in the comments below or tag me on Instagram with the hashtag #inflightnecessities.
